The small lot reds from Thirty Bench are finally here, after 18 months in barrel, and it’s now up to the public to pick their favourite. I have already cast my vote for the Merlot, but following a close second is this Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose screams out of the glass with robust red fruit. The palate shows a silky-smooth suppleness that is filled with cassis, blackberry and other dark fruits – especially on the mid-palate … on the finish you’ll find vanilla along with some tannin grit. It’s a now or later wine but you’ll surely enjoy it whenever you decide to drink it. Price: $40.00 – Rating: ****+
