Rosehall Run 2007 Cold Creek Cabernet Franc
The wine is made from 100% County Franc, and aged 20 months in barrel (80% of which in new French oak) … the other thing worth mentioning before going onto the taste is that only 12 barrels of this wine were produced. The nose is black cherry, blackberry, tobacco and currants. The palate doubles the fruit intensity from the nose with a wonderful concentration of blackberries, black cherries and spice. Tannins don’t overpower the wine, making it possible to sip it now – but time in bottle will enhance this wine over the next 5-8 years, maybe longer. Currently it finishes with black cherries that coat the mouth with intense flavour, and tannins that give it a nice dry finish … and there’s lots and lots of length after the swallow here – mainly from those cherries. Price: $29.95 – Rating: *****
