Calamus Estate 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon
I tried this at pre-release time and was impressed with this wine then ... now released in bottle it`s time to be impressed again. One of the best things this wine has going for it is the price, at absolute steal at a mere $19.95 for a Cab of this calibre. The nose is very inviting with its spiced cherry and lots of red fruit, cinnamon and vanilla aromas. After 18 months in oak this wine is smooth and supple with red berries and a touch of spice, silky tannins and a good finish. By no means is this wine something you'll be ageing for a decade, it`s not meant for the long haul, but it still has plenty of good fruit to see it through 3-5 years. But for the full effect drink now and enjoy. Price: $19.95 - Rating: ****
