Trust Tawse to get the most out of a so-so vintage, and this 2011 Franc shows what this producer known for quality does in just such a vintage. Nose of sweet raspberry, red licorice and cherry; flavours keep the cherry and raspberry from the nose while adding anise and vanilla. There's a serious side to this wine as well, that goes along with the pleasant juiciness and delicate tannins, and that's the white smoke finish. Price: $31.95 - Rating: ****+
