Big Head 2013 Red

This complicatedly put together wine should not have to reveal its magic of the how – but instead we should discuss the what: 41% Merlot, 34% Syrah, 22% Dornfelder and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon – and somewhere in there skins from Petit Verdot are also used. Aromas are cherry with pepper and spiced-raspberry. Winemaker and Big Head namesake, Andrzej Lipinski, attributes the Syrah for the peppery notes and high acidity in this wine, but there is enough fruit in there to bring it all together.  Price: $19.00 – Rating: ****
