Preconceived notions can be dangerous and it was with this Syrah from the hot 2012 vintage: instead of an over-abundance of fruit it comes off as lightly fruited, with white pepper and a meaty mid along with good tannins on the pepper-dominated finish.  Price: $39.95 - Rating: *** ½
