This is the top of the line of wines from Henry of Pelham and in true top of the line fashion it really is what it claims to be. Cabernet Sauvignon, Franc and Merlot spend 20 months in 60% new French oak while the other 40% hangs out in 1 year old barrels, and the result is one of the best wines I have tasted from the Speck Brothers in years. Full on blackberry, black cherry, cranberry, red currant and mocha cherry with hints of vanilla and anise on the finish. This is a wine you’ll be enjoying over the next decade, but don’t commit infanticide by opening this one up too early; give it at least 3 years to meld together. Price: $39.95 – Rating: **** ½
