On this 10-acre plot of land, owner/grower Jackson Bai tends 2 acres of Gamay by hand. It’s a 35+ year old vineyard that is just beautiful for the grape varieties he lovingly grows (which also includes Riesling and Chardonnay). The wine spends 8 months in oak, one-third of which is new, and all French – the rest sits in 2nd and 3rd fill barrels. This Gamay has a nice backbone of red fruit balanced out by a dash of white pepper. Totally chillable, totally crushable. Sure, it sounds simple, but this kind of simplicity tastes so good.
