Winemaker Brian Schmidt has a handle on this 'second rate' grape with its light fruit, cranberry and some sour cherry make it almost Pinot-esque but with a hint of violet prettiness - he'll never get a powerhouse red from it but if you're looking for an alt to Pinot Noir here it is.
