Lighthall Vineyards 2012 Pinot Noir, Mes Trois Fils
The reason the wine is called “My three sons” (English translation) is because owner/winemaker Glenn Symons had his three boys foot-trod the 100% estate grown grapes. Then the juice spent 1 year in French oak, of which 30% was new. The resulting wine has aromas of black cherry and raspberry with flavours of sour cherry, a good earthy quality and intense acidity. Next year’s version is called “Toutes la gang” because his daughter got in on the action too. Price: $30.00 – Rating: *** ½+
