2014 is going to be a very lean year for the Lake Erie North Shore ... good thing '12 and '13 were of the banner variety. This is the flagship wine for Muscedere - it's the workhorse grape variety of their vineyard operation that delivers year-in-and-year-out. 8 months in used French oak has given this wine its raspberry, cassis aromas with a touch of the smoky. Nice mouthfeel with plenty of dark fruit and spice, hints of mocha and tobacco on a tannin-rich finish. This one's dark and delicious. Price: $18.00 - Rating: ****+
