Winemaker Marco Piccoli does it again with another good version of the Delaine Syrah, one of the most consistent varietals under the label. Nose hits all the high notes of Syrah including smoke, vanilla, smoked meat, black currants, black raspberry and hints of pepper ... the palate takes the promise of the nose and adds to it. A sweet red and black fruit entry courses through the mouth with white pepper and black cherry, nice tannins and a rich linger on the finish. Once again this wine shows the balance and elegance of Syrah possible from this part of the world - kudos to Marco for seamlessly melding great terroir and accomplished winemaking.
