18 months of 10-20% new oak has given the wine a subtlety of raspberry, cranberry and earthy notes on the nose; palate was also subtle, but quite Pinot-esque: spice, white pepper, earthy and tobacco ... fruit is the part that is subtle.  Tried this wine with a mushroom dish and it paired wonderfully well.
