Tawse 2013 Chardonnay, Unoaked

For an unoaked Chardonnay, sometimes the most boring wine in the world, this shows some surprising depth and character.  Nose is full of apple, mineral and lemon notes, while the palate is fresh and lively with green apple, fresh pear, hints of peach pit and, there it is again, that mineral seam that keeps everything in check.  Hard to believe it's unoaked Chardonnay.  Price: $19.95 - Rating: ****+
