Second tasting of the wine (this time at the winery): this 5 years on lees is a blend of 60/40 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and is awe-inspiringly delicious. It’s hard to believe it is a sparkling wine out of New York State – it could easily be mistaken for the more expensive stuff from that well known region in France: crisp, refreshing, green apple and bosc pear with lemon pith and subtle biscuit and bready notes … my third tasting was at home in a proper flute, and it was even better.
