Although this wine has been in the Ontario market for some time now, this is my first official tasting of it. The winemaker decided to do a take-off of the trend of whisky producers putting their product in old wine barrels – this is wine in old Scotch Whisky barrels … first aged 12-15 months in aged French and American oak then transferred into the whisky barrels to finish it off (8 – 12 weeks), which helps to add length and mouthfeel to the wine: Nose is predominantly plum and cherry while the palate is silky smooth with plum, cherry and soft tannins …rich, round and all rolls silkily across the tongue. Price: $19.95 – Rating: ****
