I love a Zin with character, and this one has it in spades: plum and cherry with gentle spice lead things off – plus it shows a robustness of fruit on the nose, with restraint on the palate. Sweet fruit takes over the middle but there is also nice tannins and good acidity keeping everything in balance. A delightful Zinfandel from a place you don’t expect to find Zin at all: Canada’s West Coast. Price: $23.49 – Rating: ****+
