Marco Bonfante 2012 Albarossa ‘Albarone’

This Amarone-style red is made using the Albarossa grape dried 4-6 weeks and lose 30-40% of their weight. The wine spends 24 months in 1000L French oak and another year in bottle before release to the general public. It boasts a whopping 15.7% alcohol, deep cherry and spice flavours along with a well-balanced acidity on the finish. Marco only makes 8000 bottles a year and he sells out every year. It’s a rare wine worth having, holding and maybe sharing.  Price: $71.95 – Rating: ****+
