Name means “stone valley estate” because of the stony soils and rocky ground. It was established in 1889 and is now making single vineyard wine (by Vine Bujanda). It’s 92% Tempranillo with equal parts Maturaua and Graciano grapes rounding it off, then aged 22 months in all French oak at a variety of ages up to third fill: lush in the mouth with great concentration of dark fruit elegance but still has real power behind it. Price: $45.00 – Rating: **** ½
