Bellaria 2009 Taurasi

There’s a city in Irpinia called Taurasi, which has given its name to this wine, and only Aglianico grown within the surrounding 17 cities (including Taurasi) can use the moniker.  This 18 months in French oak 100% Aglianico red has a well-balanced 15.3% alcohol core – plus there’s red and black fruit, balsamic and cedar notes and a hint of oxidation that adds character.  Rating: ****
