This blend of Merlot (36%), Cabernet Sauvignon (31%), Cabernet Franc (19%) and Syrah (14%) is made using the appassimento method, and why not, in a vintage like 2013 the fruit needed a little boost that the drying of grapes can give. Then it rested 24 months in 2nd use cigar barrels, that might explain the smokiness that is found in this wine; but seriously: plum, chocolate, black cherry, vanilla, black pepper and cigar notes all make an appearance before leading to a soft and finessefully long finish.
