2017 is considered by many to be a “miracle vintage” in Ontario – with one of the crappiest summer’s on record it looked like rosé would be all that was going to be on offer from this part of the world – but along came September and October to save the vintage with dry weather and temps in the 30+ range (that’s Celsius for you Americans reading): winemaker Angelo Pavan took full advantage with notes of full on Cabernet Franc like tobacco and herbal plus some pepper, smoke and even black cherry and black raspberry fruit … a beautiful example of Ontario Cabernet Franc from a man who has mastered the grape – rain or shine.  Price: $24.95 – Rating: ****
