This Syrah is made from young vines (4-5 years old). It’s fruit forward with a nice red and black berry core with hints of floral and subtle meaty notes nibbling at the edges. There’s even some white pepper hanging out, which is typical for Syrah … but it’s also surprisingly soft and elegant considering it rested in new oak (33%) for a full 16 months … there’s an easy drinking-ness here with dark fruit on the finish that carries the rest of those meaty and peppery notes along with it onto the long finish. It’s a real coup for Good Earth and it looks good on ‘em.  148 cases produced.  Price: $34.95 - Rating: ****+
