Hinterland 2018 Pinot Noir, Red Herring

Coveted Lowrey fruit gets put into Jonas Newman’s hands – he gets just one ton to play with … Wild fermented for 3 weeks then 11 months in old barrels. Right now the wine is pretty rough and tight but shows signs that some aging will be beneficial; delicate notes of cran-cherry, rhubarb and strawberry with tannins that grip and bite on the tongue – there’s even a tell-tale earthiness on the finish.  Price: $40.00 – Rating: ****
