This new winery coming out of the ashes of Mike Weir, formerly the EastDell property, has employed winemaker Jeff Innes to great effect – as the first three wines I have tried with him show great promise for the future of this new endeavour. This Fume is Sauvignon Blanc is aged in oak for 4 months which has given texture and subtle nuances (nothing overwhelming) to the wine: grassy and vanilla plus grapefruit, melon and a hint of lime. The middle comes across creamy but not thick with just a hint of floral to pretty it up – plus the acidity is on point. The finish returns to grassy and vanilla … but it’s that middle that’ll totally win you over. Price: $18.95 - Rating: ****
