Rare to see a wine project wearing it grape on its sleeve, but this project by Vladimir Skok has the grape he’s using right in the name: Gamay; and this is his barrel-aged version. Delicate with cherry, sweet cranberry and white pepper – the red fruit comes across a little candied on the mid-palate, but when that acidity kicks in the balance is set. A great inaugural vintage with a promising future for upcoming vintages. Price: $22.75 – Rating: ****
