Flat Rock currently has 2 Pinots and between the two, this is my favourite (3 more clone specific ones are due out later this year). The Gravity Pinot Noir is a vibrant full bodied Pinot made from the best barrels of that particular vintage year; smells of earth, oak cedar, licorice, dark cherries and strawberries. A wine that definitely has cellaring potential over the next 3 to 5-plus years, because it’s still a little closed, but its potential is already starting to poke through. There’s earth, oak, and cedar on the palate – yet still tannic enough to have some drying effect on the tongue, but there are some great cherry notes in there as well, and they rear their heads-up and wave as they pass through your mouth, letting you know they are there in the background … A wonderfully lush wine to be. Give it some time and watch it develop.
