This is a pretty big Chardonnay at 14% alcohol, but what do you expect from a wine made from grapes harvested in the vintage-of-the-decade in Ontario. But that alcohol can be a bit of a ruse, you’d expect something heavy with a boozy effect on the palate but instead its more refreshing and delicate than expected with buttery, nutty, vanilla and butterscotch complexity – there’s even nice acidity and pleasant white fruit notes on the finish. Good length. Price: $38.00 – Rating: ****
