Now this is more like the Cabernet Franc I have come to expect from Derek Barnett. There’s a very signature savoury element that lies underneath from front to back and a long drying finish that makes it taste older than it is: tobacco, cassis, red currant, smoky-raspberry and a hint of white pepper bring it all together - tastes cooler vintage than what most 2016 analysts would think (might be due to the lack of new oak and all French for 16 months); here savoury rules the day over expected big fruit.
