The 2017 was stunning, the 2018 is good but it’s no ’17 – but hey, you can’t hit one out of the park every time. Full disclosure, I have had three experiences with this wine (each a month apart). The first was a blasé moment (guess I was expecting the ’17), then I took a deeper dive on the second: aromas of floral and lime kick things off but with a funky smoked meat and herbal note that seems to intrude. On the palate floral, lime and raspberry with a hint of tangerine – good acidity makes this one refreshing but that nose is just a head-scratcher. Third time was a charm, the layers of “weird” have blown off and now it is refreshing and fruit driven with citrus dominating the notes of lemon-raspberry-apricot with acidity that seems to have re-invented itself – there were three months between tastings and I’m chocking it up round one and two to bottle shock.  Price: $19.95 – Rating: *** ½+
