There’s a hit of earthiness and smokiness to start this wine off, but there’s also a fair bit of fruit here in the form of cherry and strawberry that is looking to come to the fore, there is even a fun note of balsamic, which is weird for Gamay but still welcome to the party.  Rating: *** ½+
