Kelly Mason’s dream has happened, again – using Schuele fruit to make her “Handshake Series” Chardonnay for Honsberger. This one spends 18 months in all French oak (1 new barrel / 4 barrels in total). The aromas are of baked apple and peach cobbler – there is also a hint of something oaky and smoky - palate shows a touch of vanilla with some saline dryness, but there’s also a little bit of pineapple and great acidity on the finish – this one still shows some tightness but should open up nicely with another 6-8 months under its belt.
