Westcott 2017 Pinot Noir Reserve

A mere 200 cases was made of this 2017 Pinot Noir, a year where rot and fruit drop was prevalent and helped to minimize the amount of fruit available to make the wine … this is a barrel and block selection that spends 24 months in French oak, goes through both wild and malolactic fermentation and sees the inside of 1, 2 and 3 year old oak barrels in equal amounts … there’s a lush and rich fruit character here that’s balanced beautifully by acid and spice. The black fruit versus floral versus acidity mix helps keep this wine forefront of mind and mouth-filling of palate. The finish is black pepper, smoky, great fruit and I just love the acidity here.  Price: $44.95 – Rating: ****+
