It's been awhile since I've spoken about winemaker Ray Cornell - that's because Ray had a bit of a mishap at the winery and has been out of commission for awhile. He was more than happy to let me try this Gewurzt when he was back on his feet: this is no doubt the Ray-style of Gewurzt with soapy, floral and lychee notes that leap out of the glass. Sweet and dry fight it out in the mouth allowing the soapy and floral to fight it out for dominance in the mid-palate ... it ends in a dryish stalemate with a nice balance of acidity. Rating: ****
