Ontario Reviews

Reif Estate 2010 Cabernet Merlot
This is the perfect wine for those of you who tell me “I don’t like a lot of oak in my wine” – starting with the 6 months in oak. The grape breakdown is 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc and 24% Merlot – this accounts for the pleasure-ability of this wine as it starts with aromas of strawberry fruit leather … on the palate there’s red fruit and chocolate that plays harmoniously there, then adds a raspberry jam quality to the mid-palate with a nice coffee-toffee underlay. This is also a perfect wine for those who like to tell me that Ontario wines are expensive, because this one ain’t. Price: $12.95 – Rating: ****
