The fruit for this Franc grows in the vineyard of the winery close to Niagara-on-the-Lake in St. David’s – just down the road from Chateau des Charmes. The wine spends 10 months in mainly French oak (10% American) of which 30% is new … and they use only indigenous yeast (aka wild) to give the wine its fully local flair. The nose is woodsy, smoky, cherry and tobacco based; with a taste of rich raspberry, strawberry, smoke and nice acidity on the finish. Price: $32.00 – Rating: ****
