Winery owner Morey Tawse loves Chardonnay (and Pinot Noir) and you can really tell – I’ve never met an owner that’s hand off and I can’t believe Morey is any different, from his base model Chards to his big guns he has the folks at his winery carry his name proudly. This $20 version is barrel aged and fermented a total of 10 months in French oak. The nose is fresh apple, pear, peach with a little bit of lemon mixed in. Palate remains fresh and crisp, white fruit driven with hints of apple and lemon zest, while butter and vanilla take a backseat to the fruit – but they are along for the ride. This wine for its price-point is a good example of fruity and fun Chardonnay. Price: $19.95 – Rating: ****+
