I was kinda shocked here to see a screwcap on this bottle of Tawse wine – sure I’m used to seeing one on their Sketches line, but rarely on a bottle baring the usual Tawse-striped label. The nose is full of red licorice, cherry and blackberry with a palate that’s juicy – almost to the point of being sweet – containing red berries, a hint of floral (cherry blossom mainly) with good acidity to help keep a clean finish in the mouth. But it’s all that juicy fruit that makes this wine so appealing and the hints of spice on the finish that help complete the deal. Price: $31.95 – Rating: ****+
