Tawse 2011 Riesling, Quarry Road
This is a nice mid-range alcohol Riesling from Tawse, some Rieslings sit around the 8 or 8.5% mark while others can hit 13 … Tawse sat this one right in the middle at 10% - so it’s not too light so as not to be noticeable, but not over-burdened by alcohol either. The nose seems almost basic, delivering stony-peach to the olfactories … and that barely hints at the zing of kick ass acidity found on the palate with plenty of mineral and a dry green apple finish; mid-palate lemon and lime pulp and pith fight it out for dominance but in the end you gotta like the sting of acidity this wine is going to offer up.
