Oxley 2010 Regent
Looks like ‘regent’ but it’s pronounced “Re – Gant” with a “g” before the word “ant” … got it? Anyway, turns our Regent is a cross between Dianna (Sylvaner) and Muller Thurgau, and is amongst the top 25 varieties grown in the EU (ranking 12th – who knew) and was formally listed in the Germen variety listing in 1997. Now here in Ontario it’s being experimented with at Oxley Estate in the Lake Erie North Shore. This is an easy drinking wine with lots of cherry and raspberry notes – nothing complex but still rather interesting … here’s wishing Oxley the best of luck with this new entry into Ontario’s long list of grapes in the ground. Price: $16.95 – Rating: *** ½
