It’s hard to come up with a wine to follow the massive 2007 Red, which was a winner on so many levels, but winemaker J.L Groux has been at this a long time, and does not get daunted by sub-par vintages … he realizes that the blend can make things better – it’s why Bordeaux has been in the business of making wine for so long. The blend here is 39% Cabernet Franc, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot; the result is a juicy hodge-podge of both red and black fruits and spices with a nice peppery goodness on the finish.
