Inniskillin 2011 Montague Chardonnay
In my chosen profession I taste a lot of Chardonnay and have come to expect I’m not going to like many … it comes as no shock to many that I sit firmly in the ABC (Anything But Chardonnay) camp, until I get a Chardonnay, like this one, presented to me, then suddenly I’m rapturous about Chardonnay. This wine has a deeply pleasant, alluring and inviting nose based on baked and fresh fruit: apricots, tangerines, poached pear along with some burnt butter notes thrown in as a bit of a surprise. The palate is loaded with complexity: baked spices, baked fruit, lemony nuances with spices and creamy vanilla and caramel on the finish. Price: $18.95 – Rating: ****+
