When you think of Ontario Merlot it's best to get the Aussie or Cali-styles out of your head because it takes awhile for our Merlots to truly shine. This Lailey version, at this time, has a better palate than it has a nose, but that should rectify itself over the long haul. The fruit does not overpower, but neither does the wood - nothing steals the show but as a complete package it shows good balance of fruit and wood with a penchant for the herbal.
