Cornerstone Estate 2002 Cabernet Franc
Proving two adages with this wine: 1) 2002 was a great vintage and wine made in that year would age extremely well, and 2) anybody could make wine that year. First time winery owner Jerry Kopanski also fell into winemaking for the very first time. Thankfully, with a little help from his friend Daniel Lenko, he was able to salvage his unpurchased crop. Now, 6 years later, this 8 month aged in American oak Franc displays aromas that are smoky, with sour cherry and cranberry on the nose … black cherries show up in the mouth to round it – and there’s sill a touch of tannin – this one could age another year or two comfortably – but it’s drinking wonderfully right now. Price: $14.00
