Many consider winemaker Derek Barnett one of the better Syrah makers in Ontario - he definitely has a knack for putting together varietally correct wines with a grape that's not all-the-time suited for our climate. The nose has floral notes with raspberry, smoked meat and a slight hint of oak. The palate reveals spiced-raspberries, Montreal smoked meat and lots of peppery notes, while the tannins remain approachable and supple. Price: $27.00 - Rating: ****+
