Every year the folks at Fielding bring us a couple of Rieslings during their taste and buy pre-release; and every year I pick one of those Rieslings over the other. This year, according to my scoring, the estate bottled shone just a tad over the other. The nose was fairly closed, showing just a hint of lemon rind, but the palate more than made up for the shyness: grapefruit rind, hint of melon and sweet tangerine all lolly-gagged around the mouth and even stayed awhile after swallowing ... nice acidity finally take charge on the finish leaving things nice and dry and ready for the next sip.
