Coyote's Run 2009 Rare Vintage Pinot Noir
This wine is made almost exclusively from Coyote’s newest clone of Pinot, 828, now in its fourth leaf and the first time the fruit has been used and showcased in a wine. With 2009 being almost the perfect Pinot vintage, the folks at the Run know they were going to be making a Rare Vintage so their was added attention to detail in the vineyard come harvest, making sure to separate the best fruit to go into this batch. Then the finished wine rested in French oak for 16 months. The result: a wine of uncompromising elegance and finesse. Sure there’s a big hit of earthy on the nose but it is here where black cherry dominates. The mouth-feel is silky with lots of black cherry flavour and the right amount of spice hits the tongue. Lots of dark cherry fruit, and wonderful spice just adds to the enjoyment of this wine from start to finish, which is where the spice takes over. Price: $49.95 – Rating: **** ½
