Colaneri 2009 Chardonnay “Paese”
This one is made with what winemaker Andrzej Lipinski refers to as “all fresh fruit”, which means he didn’t put any of it through his kiln drying method. This wine spent 13 months in 60% new oak and shows signs of being older than the label would suggest (an old wine in young packaging). Big peach pit, vanilla cream, buttery aromas with lots more going on in the background. The palate and finish is pure vanilla butterscotch with fruit hiding in the background … you might find some fruit emerging in a few years. This one has quite the appeal for those who like ‘em a little older, a little toastier and a little butterier. Price: $34.00 – Rating: ****
