Fielding 2009 Pinot Noir
In 2009 winemakers were beaming over the Pinots they were going to produce from that vintage. I remember talking to Fielding's winemaker Richie Roberts about the Pinots and he was thrilled with his fruit. Now that this wine is finished and just being released Richie is beaming ever more, and for good reason. The nose is typically Pinot with black / sour cherry and cranberry notes ... the palate is currently pretty weighty with black fruit, cranberry, cedar and a fair bit of tannins giving it a gritty, but good finish. Needs a little more time to settle and come into it's own, hold off till Thanksgiving 2012 then feel free to use it over the next 5+ years. Price: $24.95 - Rating: *** 1/2+
