I love the name of this winery, maybe I have a sadistic nature, but the name comes from early settlers who gave it that moniker because nothing grew there ... seems owner/winemaker Paul Gallagher is trying to prove them all wrong. Now granted, the grapes for this Chardonnay don't come from his vineyard, but he is growing Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Cabernet Franc with some degree of success on his 11 acre property. This Chardonnay (from Niagara fruit) is lightly oaked (1-2 months) and combines fruit (mainly apple) with hints of vanilla ... the palate keeps that hint of vanilla and mixes it with a little lemon and sour apple acidity.
